Warehouse fit-out in progress, with racking and access equipment on site

Warehouse & logistics

Warehouse networks designed around the way your site works

High racking, long runs, moving stock and 24-hour shifts all put pressure on a network. We plan the cabling, Wi-Fi, security and voice together, so the site works at go-live and is easy to extend.

Our main area of work

Warehouse and logistics fit-outs are where ITS Networks focuses. On a new build or a refurbishment, we can design and manage the whole network, or deliver one package alongside your main contractor.

Common problems we solve

Wi-Fi that drops in the aisles

Steel racking and dense stock absorb and reflect signal. We survey and design for the aisles, at the height where scanners and vehicle terminals are actually used.

Cabling that can’t keep up

Cabinets are often placed for the first phase only. We plan routes, containment and cabinet space with the next mezzanine or extension in mind.

Cameras with nowhere sensible to connect

We plan cabling and switch ports for docks, yards, goods-in and the perimeter from the start.

Faults nobody owns

One team installs and supports the whole system, so a fault cannot be passed between suppliers.

Typical scope

  • Cat6/Cat6a horizontal cabling, containment and cabinet layout
  • Single-mode or multimode fibre backbones, including external and ducted runs to gatehouses and outbuildings
  • ECSE-led Ekahau survey and design, installation and post-install validation
  • CCTV for docks, yards and the perimeter, plus access control for staff and visitor doors
  • Voice for the office, gatehouse and transport desk
  • Labelling, Fluke and OTDR certification, and handover documentation
  • Maintenance afterwards, including 24×7 monitoring and a staffed support desk by contract

How a warehouse project runs

  1. 1

    Operational brief

Layout, racking plan, devices, go-live date and whether the site is live.

  2. 2

    Site survey

We walk the routes, cabinet locations and areas that need access equipment.

  3. 3

    Design & programme

Drawings, a costed scope and phasing that fit around operations.

  4. 4

    Install & certify

Our IPAF-licensed engineers install at height, then test every link.

  5. 5

    Handover & support

Test results, records and a support option that suits your shift pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Can you start before the racking goes in?

Yes, and it often helps. We can also design around existing racking on a live site.

Can you work alongside our main contractor?

Yes. We fit into the programme and coordinate access and working at height.

Can our IT provider manage the relationship?

Yes. We can deliver the work under their brand through our White Label Services.

Fitting out or reconfiguring a warehouse?

Send us the unit size, your target go-live date and whether the site is operating. We will come back with a proposed approach.
